on building this site

hello world

if you are reading this i'm guessing you got bored and looked around my site a little bit...

welcome to the site where all my work goes. other than my academic projects, you will notice that my personal projects will appear here as well.

why?

you may be wondering why this site exists. it's because i wanted a place to showcase some of the personal projects and work i've done that can't fully be described or fit in a standard interview or a one page resume. therefore, this site is the best solution i have. alongside my personal technical projects, i've also decided to toss in some personal touches like photography, to also showcase them as i don't want to just have them sit in my computer without anyone seeing it.

i hope this website will help you get to know me a little better, and what i've been building.

why is everything lowercased?

there is a few design choices i've made specifically for my site for your experience to be at least somewhat reasonably comfortable. you may or may not have noticed that everything on here is lowercased; that is intentional to make you feel comfortable and set a tone where it's meant to be not overly formal. in a world of growing gen z presence in the workforce, this design choice reflects the personality and quirkiness that brings.

about me (what am i doing)

you may have already read about me on my page, but here's a little bit about me anyways, because why not. i'm currently working on my master's in data science, and like to build things. with credits to my product management and data engineering classes at boston university, something clicked: i realized i'm able to come up with solutions to my own problems. when i hit one, i work out what the system needs to do and then build it, using whatever tools get me there faster.

my favorite projects have mostly been IoT solutions in my own home. working on those made me realize that this is something i can do in the real world too, finding solutions to real problems in corporate settings. in my upcoming posts i will be going through some of the personal projects that i've been working on,

so... what did i learn?

a lot. building this website actually took a lot longer than i'd like it to be, because i wanted it to look welcoming and as perfect as it could be. in other words, i wanted to make sure that it looked great. working on this project actually taught me how websites work, like html and next.js. with the help of utilizing claude to help me kickstart the website, i've picked up a large amount of how this works by going in and making tweaks myself.

another thing i learned is that design choices can be impactful on how your user's experiences are on your site. having to make the decisions to appeal to my audience was not easy, but i ultimately learned that it's always best to just be myself and show my personality through my design choices.
